MT97x, MT98x and XT98x series automated tuners (also known as automated impedance tuners and automated load pull tuners) are precision instruments that are optimized for a broad class of in-fixture and on-wafer applications, and may be used in any automated or manual application requiring the ability to match the impedance of a microwave circuit element or to establish specific impedances at a terminal interface. The tuner design is based on the slide screw concept using the inherently broadband slab-line transmission structure. Each unit has two non-contacting probes deliver high VSWR with superb accuracy and reliability over a wide frequency range. These probes can be fully retracted leaving a low-loss, well-matched transmission line, which is a significant benefit in power related applications where two-port tuners capable of handling large amounts of power are required. As integral components of Maury Device Characterization Solutions, these PC-based tuners are controlled using Maury's family of Device Characterization Software tools, including MT930 IVCAD, MT993 ATS and the DLL-based measurement automation environment. Maury Microwave automed impedance tuners are ideal for load pull, harmonic load pull, active load pull, hybrid active load pull, noise figure, noise parameters and all automated tuner applications.

Load Pull
All Focus tuners use extremely efficient calibration and tuning algorithms and control electronics based on LAN control (iTuner). This is a merger our proven tuner technology with state of the art control electronics to create the latest tuner generation. The on-board micro-processor and tuning firmware form a self-contained and fully calibrated test instrument. The micro-processor inside the tuner accepts ASCII format communication, via an industry standard TCP/IP interface, controls up to nine stepper motors (tuner axes) and executes interpolation and tuning functions for single probe (CCMT) tuners (one probe per frequency range). For tuners with more than one independent probe (MPT) covering the same frequency range to allow for harmonic tuning, external computing power is required, because of the exponentially growing number of combinations of tuner states (slug positions).

Noise Figure Measurements With Vector Correction

This software application enables high-accuracy noise figure and noise-power measurements of amplifiers. It utilizes Keysight’s unique vector-source-correction technique, which uses a source-impedance tuner to remove the effects of imperfect system-source match. This approach yields accuracy that surpasses that provided by the Y-factor method and other cold-source implementations, especially for in-fixture, on-wafer, and automated-test environments. A scalar-calibrated method is also available that offers less accuracy but is faster and does not require an impedance tuner.
